Today's Quick Mention: I'm off to see
George Jones and Robert Ellis at ACL Live tonight,
but there's also some other good shows around town.
Quin Galavis is playing Trailer Space, Mother Falcon
is at Laguna Gloria, and Portugal, The Man is set
for Stubb's.
I still greatly adore Phantogram's debut from last
year, Eyelid Movies, so the announcement of a
what's being described as a "mini-LP" was certainly
great news. Although, wouldn't a mini-LP just
be an EP? Or am I just crazy? In any
case, I'm excited to hear the thing. Below
you'll find the first single. Nightlife
is due out November 1 via Barsuk. Enjoy.

- Don't Move:
Eyelid Movies has quite a few moments that hint at this
duo's pop sensibilities, but I think this track is the first
time they've really let them shine. The arrangement is
lighter and not so committed to being trip hop, and the
vocal work is soft and easy on the ears. I can't wait
to see if the rest of their mini-LP has more of the same.
