Maybe you’ve
heard the story of
Scott H. Biram, or maybe you haven’t.
Either way, it’s worth telling again. Biram was a well
established performer when he was in a horrifying accident
in the spring of 2003. While driving in his truck he was hit
head on by a 18-wheeler doing 75 MPH. Needless to say, he
was lucky to be alive. But not only did he survive, just one
month later he was wheeled onstage at the Continental Club
for a show despite having two broken legs, a broken foot,
broken arm, and an IV hanging out of his one good arm. This
is one badass motherfucker. If Johnny Cash and Chuck Norris
had a kid, that kid would be Scott H. Biram.
In the years since the accident, Biram has (mostly)
recovered from the crash and has continued to churn out his
aggressive, lo-fi blend of blues, country, and punk. His
latest release, Bad Ingredients, is his highly
acclaimed eighth full-length, which recently received a four
star review from the Austin Chronicle. Biram plays in
support of the new album this Saturday at the Mohawk, so I
highly suggest you don’t blow all your money on Black
Friday.
Watching Biram live will be the best $10 you’ll spend all
weekend. Offstage he may be reserved and mild-mannered, but
onstage he rants like a mad preacher and is like no one else
you’ve seen perform.
