Today's Quick Mention:  Monday is usually a good night to stay in, but I'd be crazy to not recommend a trip to the Mohawk for some hip hop greatness via Immortal Technique and Killer Mike.  Doors are at 6:30pm.  Tix are $20.

Music for your face.  Enjoy.

:Imperial Teen - Runaway:  Admittedly, I sort of forgot about Imperial Teen.  It's been so long since their last album (The Hair The TV The Baby And The Band was back in 2007), and I've never exactly been a huge fan.  Still, I dig this track, and I know plenty of folks will be happy about the return of the veteran pop act.  Feel The Sound is due out on the very last day of January via Merge.

:Star Slinger - Moet And Reese:
Not a lot happens in this track.  Fortunately, that little tidbit is rendered acceptable because the song is a rather chill-sounding effort that plays well in headphones and doesn't need a "hook" or some sort of thunderous climax.  I believe this is just a one-off effort, which means you should probably grab it while you can.

:The Big Sleep - Ace:  Oddly enough, here's another band whose last full length was so long ago that I forgot they were still together.  Like Imperial Teen, though, they've returned with a strong single, and I'm interested to hear all of what they've been working on since 2008's Sleep Forever Nature Experiments will be released by Frenchkiss Records on January 31 (must be a popular day for comebacks).

:Thee Oh Sees - The Dream:  I have a short list of bands I wish I could have made time to catch at the recent Fun Fun Fun Fest, and Thee Oh Sees are on it.  I just imagine that their live show is a blast.  Anyhow, this raucous effort should make your Monday much louder.  Hope you're ready for that.  Carrion Crawler/The Dream is due out this week on In The Red Records.

:Starlight Girls - Flutterby:  For a moment or two yesterday I had a hard time believing I let this track sit in my inbox for the last two weeks.  It's good, especially if you like lady-lead pop music that rests on the whimsical side of things.  You'll be able to pick up Starlight Girls' self titled debut on January 1 via a pay-what-you-want setup.  You should get in on that.
