I’ve been had.
Despite the insistence, Germany Germany is every bit
Canadian, and out of his Vancouver base, the young,
20-something talent that is Drew Harris toils away under his
geographically inaccurate guise. In his recordings, Harris
has managed to encase, rather unapologetically, something
incredibly personal. I’m not sure I can call it nostalgic,
but there’s certainly familiarity in the imagery evoked, and
while the picture is too fleeting to grasp, it’s certainly
reflective of something you can feel just beyond your mind’s
peripheral. Synthesized melodic stories give way to a
daydream nature with passive participation, but it’s
evocative and stirring characteristics can’t help but
command a more attentive listen.
