Today's Quick Mention:  Mogwai is playing Stubb's tonight!  I've never actually seen them live before, so I've been really looking for the show.  Tickets are still available if you want to join me.

Because you asked, here's five songs.  Enjoy.

:Making Friendz - Situation:  Need something to immediately make today 100% more clap-worthy?  Then look no further than this incredibly catchy and upbeat number from Tami Hart's new project.  In case you don't recall the name, Hart made some waves back in the early 2000s as solo artist.  Now she has a variety of gigs (she's also a guitarist in MEN) that she uses to fill up her schedule.  Social Life is due June 21 on Last Bummer Records.

:Sennen - Age of Denial:  This band's latest LP has apparently been out in the UK since last year, but it's getting shared anyway since I'm just now hearing about it and I'm an absolute sucker for post-rock, especially when it's this great and laced with a hint of shoegazey goodness.  Minty Fresh put out a special blue vinyl version of Age Of Denial on Record Store Day.  Anyone get one?  And can I have it?

:Cloud Control - Meditation Song 2 (Why, Oh Why):  This song is fantastic.  The boy/girl vocals aren't overdone or gimmicky, and I very much love that there's enough curveballs in the arrangement alone to keep me entertained for an unusually lengthy amount of time.  A debut full length from the band is expected before the end of the year, which hopefully also means a stop in Austin isn't too far off.

:Grooms - Tiger Trees:  For as long as SOTO has been around this band (formerly known as the Muggabears) has been making some of the best moody indie rock around, and with this, the first single off their new LP, it doesn't look as though that status will be changing.  Prom is the name of their upcoming album, and it's due out July 12 on the always steady as can be Kanine Records.

:Cuckoo Chaos - Jesus Flag American Fish:  I can't remember the last time a song made me want to throw on some beachwear and head out for a day in the sun, but this breezy pop number from Lefse's latest roster addition is doing the trick.  As of now, the band only has plans to release a 7" on July 12.  Let's hope an EP or LP is at least on the schedule to happen sooner rather than later.
