Today's Quick Mention:  If you do anything this weekend it should definitely be banked track roller derby at the Palmer Events Center tomorrow night.  Starts at 7pm.  The wife and her Rhinestone Cowgirls will be taking on the Hellcats.  See you there!

And now, some Friday jams.  Enjoy.

:My Morning Jacket - Holdin On To Black Metal:  Not only has My Morning Jacket been announced as a headliner for this year's ACL, but this weird little tune has finally turned up in a convenient, easy to download and treasure forever mp3-form.  Nice timing, right?  The band will release Circuital on May 31 via ATO.  So far I've read nothing but really positive things about it.

:Memory Tapes - Wait In The Dark:  I've only heard two tracks off it, but I really think Dayve Hawk's upcoming album is going to be one to remember.  The guy just crafts some of the most charming bedroom pop around, and I can't wait to spend a good chunk of quality headphone time with an entire full length of his stuff.  Player Piano is due out everywhere on July 5 via Carpark.

:The Rosebuds - Woods:  This duo will release their new LP on June 7 through Merge, and then immediately hit the road for a bunch of shows that they'll either headline or support Bon Iver.  What the hell are you doing with your summer?  Just kidding.  Sort of.  Anyhow, this is a sprawling pop song that has made me eager to get my hands on Loud Planes Fly Low as soon as possible.

:The War On Drugs - Baby Missiles:  Not sure how I wasn't previously aware of such an interesting nugget, but Kurt Vile used to be the guitarist for this band.  Weird.  In any case, the current lineup has prepped a new full length, and this foot-tapping number is the first single.  I like it.  A lot.  Slave Ambient is due everywhere August 16 via Secretly Canadian.

:Saskatchewan - Dreamboat:  While browsing You Ain't No Picasso the other day I stumbled across this snazzy piece of retro pop and immediately became smitten with it.  The band is from Orlando, and they've put out a couple of digital singles this year.  Dreamboat can (obviously) be had for free, but they also have another couple of songs that are just $2.  Check them out here.
