Today I’m gonna talk about an older band that’s seldom mentioned these days; a band that’s no longer together and likely never going to get together again; a band comprised of nothing but guys named Ben. Consisting of three fantastic fellows named Ben Folds, Ben Lee, and Ben Kweller, the short-lived trio truly deserved the "supergroup" label. Just as the elements of earth combined to create Captain Planet, The Bens came together with their own unique elements, and together they saved the world entertained some lucky Australians during their "The Bens Rock Over Australia" tour in 2006. These days, The Bens are, sadly, pretty much dead having disbanded after their Australian tour. The rare rumor of reunion, even the type to come from the mouth of a Ben, usually only drifts into a dying dream. What lives forever, however, is their seriously succinct self-titled EP. While each Ben has a piece to call his own, it doesn’t take much to see how each Ben brought a bit of their branding to the playing field. It’s a Hobbit of an album that’s short and delightful and seriously makes me wish for the reformation of a fellowship.
