Today's Quick Mention:  I'm determined to stay home at least one night this week, so no show-going for me tonight.  Still, you should probably hit up Atmosphere at Stubb's, Pepper Rabbit and the Submarines at the Parish or Bill Callahan at the Mohawk.  Let me know how it goes.

Monday ear love.  Enjoy.

:Grieves - Bloody Poetry:  One of the artists opening for Atmopshere tonight is this guy and his partner in crime, who also happens to be a friend of mine, Budo.  So, if you have plans to attend that show then I advise you arrive early.  Otherwise you'll miss some of the better crafted underground hip hop around.  Together/Apart is the name of Grieves' debut for Rhymesayers, and it's due out later this year.

:Eleanor Friedberger - My Mistakes:  After putting out a whopping eight full lengths as part of the Fiery Furnaces, this lady is branching out her own.  I don't know if whatever she ends up doing is going to be all that different than what we're used to her being involved in (this song certainly doesn't take any big chances), but I like her too much to not stick around and find out.  Last Summer is out July 12.

:Yourself And The Air - Sick Days:  Here's a track that I just could not escape at all this weekend.  I think it's the old school indie rock vibe that kept me coming back.  So many bands give that particular style a shot, but only a few ever pull it off like this.  The band will release a debut EP titled Who's Who In The Zoo on May 24 via Lujo Records.  I'd like to have it right now.

:Bodies Of Water - Open Rhythms:  For a while now this act has been leaking songs off their upcoming LP, and while I've liked pretty much all of them, this is the first that's really impressed.  It's just a cool, layered listen that's deserving of all the attention it can get from you.  Grab headphones.  Surprisingly, Twist Again isn't due out on Thousand Tongues until 6/21.

:King Tuff - Hands:  I thought Kyle Thomas had officially discarded his King Tuff stuff and officially moved on to Happy Birthday, but it looks as though this re-recorded oldie from him is an indicator that the moniker isn't all the way dead.  I'll take that as good news, honestly.  This track can be found on the 7" series that Scion currently has going on.  Get it.
