Time for more
White Denim! The band really just keeps cranking out
all sorts of awesomeness. First, they released a free album,
The Last Day Of Summer, while announcing they’ve
added a fourth member. Then they release two songs (Drugs
and Anvil Everything) off their forthcoming album
D, which is due out on May 24th. They also managed to
churn out some of the best shows of any band at SXSW 2011.
Now, the group has release yet another freebie in the form
of an hour long mixtape that's a rather eclectic array of
artists and musical styles.

Denim - Anvil Everything:
If this mixtape is any indication, and I do believe it is,
the band draws from a variety of often obscure influences
when constructing their ever evolving library of songs. This
is what makes the mixtape so great for a White Denim fan
such as myself. I better understand what shapes their pysch-rock
and experimental tendencies, and I also see why they
incorporated elements of smooth jazz and even a dusting of
yacht rock on The Last Day Of Summer.
I can’t say I recognize many of the artists on the tape, but
I’ll be damned if it isn’t fun to listen to over and over. I
especially was surprised and delighted by the Crazy Horse,
Moby Grape, Connections, and Ernesto Djedje tracks. Very
cool stuff. Download a copy and enjoy. And don’t forget to

at Antone’s.
