Today's Quick Mention: While it would
probably be the better idea to stay in and continue
resting up for SXSW, I wouldn't mind expending some
energy to see the Walkmen at Stubb's tonight.
The Head And The Heart and TV Torso are set to open.
Doors at 7pm. Tix are $18.
Stuff for your ears.
Enjoy.

Brut - Unprofessional Wrestling:
Eddie Argos is one of the best entertainers on the face of
the planet, so anything new from him and the group of fine
folks that make up Art Brut will always get my attention.
You could use a super-catchy indie rock gem to end this
silly week with, yeah? The band will release
Brilliant! Tragic! on May 23 via Cooking Vinyl.

Ra Riot - Too Dramatic (Morning Benders Remix):
The Morning Benders' Christopher Chu has now reached that
point where whatever he's attached to, I'm interested in.
I mean, just listen to this remix! We've all heard
this track a thousand times over, and yet he was still able
to take it, shuffle a few things and make it sound as fresh
as ever. This is off the Too Dramatic single
that is due March 8 on iTunes.
:The
Pauses - Go North:
Here's a brand new act. Apparently, they've made a
name for themselves in Orlando, but now they're branching
out with the impending release of a debut full length.
I like them a lot. But that's mostly because they seem
to be good at crafting hook-driven indie rock, and I love
that stuff. A Cautionary Tale is due March 8
via New Granada Records.
:White
Denim - Drug:
My relationship with this band is ridiculous. They
started out with a sound that I wasn't too interested in,
and now I can't seem to get near enough of them. I
recommend a good pair of headphones for this jammy number,
but letting this blare while you dance around your room on
LSD is also something that could yield positive listening
results for you. Downtown Records will release D
this May.
:La
Snacks - My Little Sugary Friend:
As you may recall, I just shared a track from this favorite
local act of mine called Christ Sakes And Milkshakes.
This isn't nearly as sharp-witted or playful, but I think
you'll find it to be worthy of your time. Just know
it's all pop and will probably make you want to softly sway
back and forth. AA is the name of their new
release, and it can be had for whatever price you desire
right
here.
