Today's Quick Mention: I'll be at the
Alamo Drafthouse for The Room tonight, but if
I wasn't then I'd probably consider heading over to
Beerland to help celebrate the release of Casual
Victim Pile II. The show starts at 9, and
tickets are some amount of cash that I'd assume
isn't crazy.
If you've been around these parts for a while then
you're probably very aware of my love for any piece
of music that Thao With The Get Down Stay Down
churns out. So, what happens when Thao leaves
the band behind to team up with someone else?
I still enter full-on support mode. Go figure.
Thao and Mirah will release a self titled LP via
Kill Rock Stars on April 26. Enjoy.

And Mirah - Eleven (Featuring Tune-Yards):
Way back when I was told that Thao and Mirah would be
joining up for an album, I had an idea of what it would
probably sound like. This isn't it. Granted,
it's only one song and Eleven happens to be the only
track that Merrill from the wildly brilliant Tune-Yards
wrote and co-produced, but I think it's safe to say we'll be
getting more than just a subtle combination of T and M's
styles. Victory!
