Today's Quick Mention: There's not much
happening in the way of shows tonight or tomorrow,
so it's probably a good time to head to the theater.
I highly recommend Midnight In Paris and/or
Beginners.
And then there was some music Enjoy.

Won't Listen - The Night Shines:
I've been looking forward to Jason Drake's latest collection
of tunes since it was first announced, but it took this
nifty track popping up over the weekend to notify me it was
ready to be owned. Talk about being a bad blogger.
Anyhow, I need to get it. So do you. Let's
make it happen. Daylight Curfew is where Evinspacey
calls home.

- Your Love Is Bummin' Me Out:
This is such a weird little track. It's the longest
two minutes I've heard in a while, the lyrics are half emo,
half hilarious, and I can't tell if it wants to be a country
song or not. And yet, I really dig it. Same goes
for the rest of the stuff on the Your Love Is Bummin' Me
Out EP. The effort is due out later this week on
Afternoon Records.
:Wilco
- I Might:
Wilco have been around for so long that it almost seems
silly to try and give you a reason to click play.
They're good. You know. I know it. As for
this song, it's a rather catchy little number that I expect
you'll appreciate. Unless, of course, your days are
full of sadness. The I Might 7" single will be
available on July 19 via the band's own dBpm Records.
:Vetiver
- Wonder Why:
Somewhere along the way I totally whiffed on the news that a
new Vetiver album was on the way, so now that it's out and
everyone is raving about it, I figured it would be a good
time to throw out an endorsement. Or something like
that. At any rate, listen to this charming effort, and
then go pick the LP up. The Errant Charm is
currently available via Sup Pop.
:Total
Babes - Like They Always Do:
While I think this fuzzed out number is a catchy effort
worth remembering, I have to admit that I've been partly
swayed by Total Babes moniker. It's hilarious, and I'm
honestly a bit amazed that no one thought to take it
earlier. The band will put out their debut,
Swimming Through Sunlight, on August 30 via Old Flame
Records.
