Today's Quick Mention: The Lovely
Sparrows are doing a Summer Residency at the Mohawk,
and you should check it out. There's a show
tonight at 7pm, it's free and you'll certainly be
treated to a wide variety of new and old tunes.
Music for your Monday. Enjoy.

House Kings - Would You Say Stop? (Dave Dag Remix):
I went into this expecting some sort of dance track, but
instead I was given the glorious pop spirit of the original
laid upon 90s-style guitar riffs. Awesome. I
think I may even prefer this take. Music Sounds
Better Remixed is a six-track EP that features different
versions of Would You Say Stop?, and it's out now on
Labrador.
:Little
Deadman - Shooting Seagulls:
This act from San Diego hasn't been together for all that
long, and yet they have something like this, which is nicely
loaded with reverb and soaring vocals, that would indicate
they're already pretty damn good. Way to be, fellas.
The band have a 7" available now, an EP is coming later this
year, and you can expect to see a debut full length at some
point in 2012.

- Baseball On The Radio:
In case you aren't aware of this snazzy little fact, Doug
Marvin (formerly of Dirty On Purpose) and his wife Annie
Hart (currently of Au Revoir Simone) make up the core of
this bedroom project turned band. They're good, as
you'll see when you hit play on this fuzz-filled piece of
pop. A Pattern Language is due out July 19 on
Uninhabitable Mansions.
:Male
Bonding - Bones:
For a punk band that's about to release what's being
reported as a 36-minute album, having one of the 11 tracks
being six and a half minutes is kind of crazy.
Fortunately, I really dig this song, which makes the whole
ordeal a good kind of crazy. Endless Now is the
name of the band's sophomore LP, and it's due out August 30
via Sub Pop.

Bears On Fire - Saturday Night Special (Runaways Cover):
Everyone is focused (rightfully so, probably) on the
upcoming Buddy Holly covers album, but I believe some
attention should also be given to the two disc effort that's
been put together to pay tribute to the Runaways. In
addition to this fierce number, it has contributions from
Dandy Warhols, Shonen Knife, the Donnas and more.
Take It Or Leave It is due June 28.
