Time for your weekly notable news update!  Below you'll find a slew of sentences meant to provide a brief glimpse of what's been going on over the past week in movieland.  If something leaves you desperate for more info then my advice is to do a little extra research on one or all of the following fantastic sites:  Latino Review, Dark Horizons, Ain't It Cool News, CHUD and/or JoBlo.  Now, read on!
 

Movie News Rundown

Rob Cohen (The Fast And The Furious) is all set to direct 1950.  The movie is said to be based on The Korean War.

Tell me you're not just straight up excited to see Drive.  I dare you.  Here's the trailer.

Chris Hemsworth recently mentioned that he was disappointed to learn that Kenneth Branagh would not be back to direct the sequel to Thor.

The trailer for The Ides Of March is really good.  Can't wait to see the movie.

Leonardo DiCaprio is said to be interested in joining the adaptation of The Creed Of Violence.  The book follows a guy in the early 1900s who gets caught trying to smuggle a cache of weapons into Mexico.

Tucker And Dale Vs Evil is something I need to see immediately.  Here's the trailer.

Kevin Bacon has signed on to play the villain in RIPD.  Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges are still set to star.

Joan Allen and Martin Finney will be reprising their roles for The Bourne Legacy.

Well, Battleship looks more ridiculous than I ever could have imagined.  Check out the teaser.

Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, the guys behind the first two Crank films, are said to be interested in doing a third entry in the series.

Antoine Fuqua will adapt Storming Las Vegas.  Based on a true story, the book details the violent crime spree that Jose Vigoa went on in the early 90s.

Haywire looks like a 90s action flick.  I dig it.  Here's the trailer.

Simon Pegg will star in A Fantastic Fear Of Everything.  The film is said to follow a crime novelist who turns himself into a paranoid wreck.

Harrison Ford has signed on to star in an adaptation of Black Hats.  The book follows Wyatt Earp as he's sent to Chicago to deal with a young Al Capone.

Knights Of Badassdom looks like ridiculous fun, so I'm in.  Check out the trailer.

Ron Howard will reportedly pass on adapting Dan Brown's Lost Symbol in favor of focusing on other opportunities.

Shaolin could turn out good.  Here's the trailer.

Terry Gilliam is said to be working on an adaptation of Mr. Vertigo.  The book deals with an orphan who meets a mysterious circus performer and then travels the United States with him.

Robert Zemeckis is reportedly interested in directing Here There Be Monsters, which is being described as a fantasy-filled story based around famed naval hero John Paul Jones.

It's got Brett Ratner's name on it, so I'm not sure what to think about it.  Here's the trailer for Tower Heist.

Robert Rodriguez recently mentioned that he thinks he may shoot Sin City 2 next year.  He also said that a couple of sequels to Machete have been greenlit.

I like Justin Timberlake as an actor, so I may check In Time out.  The trailer is solid.

The villain in the upcoming James Mangold-directed The Wolverine will be the Silver Samurai.

Red Tails is either going to be really cheesy, or pretty good.  Check out the trailer.
