Today's Quick Mention:  Two things! The first is that you should join me at Stubb's inside tonight for Country Mice.  It's going to be great.  The other item is that I'm off to Las Vegas this weekend, which means no content on the site until Wednesday.  Be safe out there, friends.

Let's get this ear party started.  Enjoy.

:M83 - Midnight City:  Anthony Gonzalez (the main brain behind M83) is finally ready to return, and he's doing so with a double album.  Admittedly, that sounds like it could be a bit too much M83 for me, but I'm ready if it's going to be as well put together as this four minute wonder.  Hurry Up, We're Dreaming is due on the rather far away date of October 18 via Mute.

:Girls - Vomit:  I've never really understood the love for this band, so when a single for their new album showed up in my inbox yesterday, I hit play with zero expectations.  And?  Well, I won't be revisiting their previous effort, but this moody slab of indie rock has me really interested in Father, Son, Holy Ghost.  The full length will be out on September 12 via Fantasytrashcan/Turnstile.

:Yellow Ostrich - Mary (Alternate Version):  One of my absolute favorite LPs this year has been Yellow Ostrich's The Mistress.  I seriously adore it and honestly don't know if it could get any better, but I like that Barsuk, who just added the band to their roster, is re-releasing it on August 16 with a few extra tracks.  This alternate take on the original album closer is missing all the fuzz and weird sounds, but it's still really good.

:Gold Leaves - Cruel And Kind:  I think I'm ready to find a permanent spot on this act's bandwagon.  I really liked the retro pop tune that was first released to support their new album, and now there's this very well crafted, headphone worthy gem that I haven't been able to take off of repeat.  The Ornament is due on August 16 via the always hip Hardly Art.

:Charles Bradley And The Menahan Street Band - Stay Away (Nirvana Cover):  Spin just put out a tribute album based on Nirvana's Nevermind over on Facebook, and you should check it out.  Most of the covers are fairly faithful to the originals, but there are a few (like this track) that are pretty different and neat to hear.  Grab it here.  Heads up though, you have to "like" their page and submit an email address before it'll hand the music over.
