Today's Quick Mention:  The other night I saw a guy named Johnny Corndawg open for Robert Ellis at the Cactus Cafe.  I honestly didn't expect much, but his set was a blast, and now I'm telling you that checking him out will make your day better.  Here's his site.  Browse around, friends.

I swear Veronica Falls is a name I've head before, but I don't have any music from them in my archive and neither of the songs below ring any bells.  Oh well.  Regardless of my craziness, they seem to be a rather snazzy act, and I'm ready to get my hands on their debut.  The always great Slumberland Records will put it out on September 20.  Enjoy.

:Veronica Falls - Come On Over:  Like a lot of the stuff that comes out of the Slumberland roster, this is one catchy piece of retro pop.  Although, I will say this about the track, it has a sense or urgency to it and is far from heavy on the fuzz that liters a lot of other stuff like this.  So, if you've always wanted the retro sound without the plethora of hipster qualities that today's scene demands, then this is for you.
