Today's Quick Mention:  Just a heads up, I'm currently working with someone to completely redesign the site on a new platform.  If you've ever wanted to see something around here (particular tools, content, features, whatever) then now would be the time to bring it up!  Just email me.

Five tracks to make sure your week gets started right.  Enjoy.

:Akron Family - Silly Bears:  Just when I thought the single So It Goes was enough to get me pumped about this band's new album, this song comes along and totally pushes me over the edge of anticipation.  What an amazingly cool track.  S/T II: The Cosmic Birth And Journey Of Shinju TNT is out February 8 on Dead Oceans. You can pre-order now though and get an instant download of the LP.

:DeVotchKa - 100 Other Lovers:  I think this is a very nice track that's worthy of praise and repeat listens, but I have to admit I'm mostly excited about a new album from this band because that means an eventual tour and another opportunity to see one of their always entertaining live shows.  Anti- will place 100 Lovers in stores everywhere on March 1.

:Mother Mother - The Stand:  It would appear that somewhere along the way I totally missed out on this act.  Now, whether I failed to catch anything interesting is beyond me, but this guilty pleasure piece of pop has me thinking that I did.  Recommend an older track (or twelve)!  Eureka is the band's third full length and it's due out March 15 via Last Gang Records.

:TV Girl - On Land:  Trung Ngo and Brad Petering released a track late last year that ended up warranting a spot on my top songs list, and now they're back with something else that's worth paying attention to.  This isn't as chill as If You Want It, but it's still a pop gem with just the right amount of haze.  You should do yourself a favor and pick up the duo's self titled EP right now for FREE.

:Penny And The Quarters - You And Me:  This song isn't new, but it is featured heavily in the recently released flick Blue Valentine (which I just saw this past weekend), so it totally counts as relevant.  Or something.  In any case, it's a soul gem and you need it in your life.  Download it, pick up the soundtrack and then read this little blip in order to further attach yourself to the track.
