Time for your weekly notable news update!  Below you'll find a slew of sentences meant to provide a brief glimpse of what's been going on over the past week in movieland.  If something leaves you desperate for more info then my advice is to do a little extra research on one or all of the following fantastic sites:  Latino Review, Dark Horizons, Ain't It Cool News, CHUD and/or JoBlo.  Now, read on!

Movie News Rundown

Anne Hathaway has been cast as Catwoman and Tom Hardy as Bane (both villains, in case you don't know) in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.

Scream 4 doesn't look all that terrible to me.  Could totally be wrong, though.  See the new trailer.

Russell Brand and Alex Baldwin are said to be interested in roles in the adaptation of the musical Rock Of Ages.

Benicio Del Toro, James Franco and Michael Shannon will all have large parts in The Iceman.  The movie is an adaptation of the book The Iceman: True Story Of A Cold-Blooded Killer.

Winter In Wartime has a trailer.  The movie looks fantastic.

Larry Charles will direct Sacha Baron Cohen in The Dictator.  The movie is said to be a comedy based on Saddam Hussein's Zabibah And The King.

Cave Of Forgotten Dreams looks rather amazing.  See the trailer.

Ben Affleck is said to be looking at possibly directing American Bullshit.  The film would follow a 1980s sting operation of Congress.

Newcomer Nora Arnezeder has been cast as the love interest for Ryan Reynolds in Safe House.

No.  That's all I have to say about the trailer for Immigration Tango.

Duncan Jones has said that because of script issues it doesn't look as though he will direct Mute.  No word yet on what he will actually do next.

RED is poised to get a sequel.  The script is currently being written by Jon and Eric Hoeber.

So, a trailer for The Son Of No One now exists.  Doesn't look promising.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is said to be reading three scripts.  The one that seems most likely to be made is With Wings As Eagles, which tells the true story of an older Nazi soldier who flipped sides and helped a bunch of American POWs.

Not entirely sure what Bereavement is about, but it looks creepy.  See the trailer.

Ridley Scott's Alien prequel has now been reworked into a movie called Prometheus.  Supposedly, it still has a reference or two to the "Alien DNA."

Don Cheadle let it slip that Marvel has hired a writer to do a script for a solo War Machine movie.

X could be good.  Here's the trailer.

A biopic on Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is currently in the works.

The trailer for Skateland makes the flick seem like it might be OK.

Clint Eastwood will direct Beyonce in a remake of A Star Is Born.

Did the band Angels And Airwaves make a movie called Love?  It looks terrible.  Here's the trailer.

Luke Perry apparently tried to acquire the rights to Aron Ralston's story so that he could make a movie with Brian Austen Green as the star.  Thankfully, Danny Boyle got it done first.

Keira Knightley is said to be on the verge of replacing the Marion Cotillard (now pregnant) in David Cronenberg's sci-fi thriller Cosmopolis.

Anthony Hopkins will play Hitchcock in Alfred Hitchcock And The Making Of Psycho.  The movie is said to follow how Hitchcock was able to get the film (that no one wanted) made.

Perfect Sense looks a bit heavy, but interesting.  Check out the trailer.

Pedro Almodovar will next make Mina, which will tell the story of Italian singer Anna Maria Quaini.

Red Riding Hood still looks awful.  Here's the new trailer.
