Today's Quick Mention:  I'm guessing you'll spend tonight recovering from whatever crazy Oscar party you attended, so instead I'll recommend a show for tomorrow.  Diamonds Rings and PS I Love You.  The Mohawk.  Tickets will be $10 at the door.

Five songs to end the month with!  Enjoy.

:The Donkeys - Don't Know Who We Are:  I barely remember this band's twangy debut from 2008, but I suppose that's not a huge deal since this track seems to indicate that they've shifted to a decidedly more pop rock style.  I dig it, and I'm actually a little anxious now to check out their upcoming full length.  Born With Stripes is due on April 26 via Dead Oceans.

:Sonny And The Sunsets - I Wanna Do It:  Admittedly, this is like every single piece of fuzzy retro pop that we've all come across over the last few years.  So don't expect to be surprised.  At all.  Fortunately though, such a thing doesn't mean the track isn't a good one and worth a slew of repeat listens.  Sonny And The Sunsets will release Hit After Hit on April 12 via Fat Possum.

:Bobby - Sore Spores:  I stumbled across this track over at Pitchfork this weekend and immediately took a liking to it.  There's just something very endearing about how playful each bit of it sounds, and I can't wait to see if the rest of their upcoming full length is as good as this track.  Partisan Records will put out their self titled debut on the so-very-far away date of June 21.

:MIA - Zig Zag:  There's no way MIA is ever going to go any real length of time without trying to grab a little press, so it only makes sense that she'd randomly throw out an unreleased track.  Personally, I think this is better than just about everything that was on her last full length, but I think the more important point may be that Zig Zag is proof she's still capable of not taking herself so seriously.

:The Heavenly States - Model Son:  First of all, it's really good to have this band back.  They were off doing whatever they were doing for far too long.  Secondly, this is a rather entertaining piece of indie pop that I'm having a hard time removing from my head.  The Oui Camera Oui EP will hit store shelves everywhere on April 19 via Hippies Are Dead Records.
