Today's Quick Mention:  Lots of great shows this weekend.  Balmorhea, the Gary, My Education and Tia Carrera each have something lined up.  Get out and see them.  As usual, all the details you need are waiting for you at Showlist Austin.

And now, five reasons to celebrate Friday.  Enjoy.

:The Dodos - Don't Stop:  I wasn't at all aware of the fact that half of the Dodos' new album features Neko Case on vocals, but it does, and that makes me even more excited to hear it.  Oddly enough though, she's not on this track.  It's apparently just a favorite of hers that she handpicked to share with us music nerds.  Frenchkiss Records will release No Color on March 15.

:Hunx And His Punx - Too Young To Be In Love:  I honestly can't decide if I really dig this act or if I'm on the verge of being done with them.  It's weird.  They've put out a couple of really nice pop tunes (I especially like this one), but they also seem to be begging for a big sticker that says "novelty" on it.  Guess I'll just have to save my decision for when I hear all of the LP, which is called Too Young To Be In Love and is due March 29 on Hardly Art.

:The Watson Twins - You Showed Me (Turtles Cover):  Hard to believe it's been five years since these ladies first entered the spotlight with the help of Jenny Lewis' debut solo effort.  Where'd all the time go?  Anyhow, they've now readied an EP of covers for you to grace your ears with, and after hearing this little gem, I highly recommend that you make plans to pick it up.  Night Covers is due out April 18.

:Parts And Labor - No Rest:  I couldn't find anything likeable about the first single off of Parts And Labor's new LP, so I was kind of relieved when this showed up and then refused to get out of my head.  When the band wants, they can be as noisy, accessible and as good as anyone around.  The always fantastic Jagjaguwar will put out Constant Future on March 8.

:Cool Kids - Bundle Up:  A lazy sounding arrangement and a slew of fun/witty lyrics that sound as though they were cobbled together from some old notebook full of one-liners?  Yep, just like every Cool Kids track in existence, that's what you'll find here.  Talk about perfecting a formula.  The duo will release a new full length on Green Label Sound later this year.
