Today's Quick Mention:  You should consider getting out tonight and catching some music.  Swans and Wooden Wand will be at the Mohawk, Tapes N Tapes, Oberhofer and Monahans are playing Emo's, and Broken Social Scene is at La Zona Rosa.  It's the tri-fecta of fun!

Five songs to end your week with.  Enjoy.

:Acid House Kings - Would You Say Stop?:  Considering that this was voted on by fans as the song they would most like to see released as the band's next single, I'm assuming that a large majority of you have probably heard it.  If you haven't, then your day just got better, as this is one glorious piece of indie pop.  Music Sounds Better With You is due March 1 via Labrador.  I can't wait to hear it.

:Tune Yards - Bizness:  I love Merrill Garbus.  She could very easily be another artist that churns out a pretentious art combo of ideas and sounds, but instead she actually delivers some of the most infectious music you can find on this planet.  Way to walk the line, lady.  Now I just need to chat with her about capitalization and spacing (I obviously ignored her method).  Who Kill is out April 19 on 4AD.

:Grails - Almost Grew My Hair:  I've read plenty of things about Grails' new album, but I don't think anything about it really stuck in my head until I got a hold of this track.  At eight minutes, it isn't exactly for everyone, but I think you'll find something rather fantastic if you have a bit of extra time and a nice pair of headphones.  Temporary Residence will release Deep Politics on March 8.

:Okkervil River - Mermaid:  I have to admit that I spent about two weeks trying to like this song, and then I just gave up.  It wasn't working.  In fact, I thought it was woefully boring.  So what changed?  I don't have a damn clue, but I gave it one last listen today and found it to be all kinds of wonderful.  Let me know what you think.  This track isn't on their upcoming LP, so grab it now and hold tight.

:Princeton - To The Alps:  I hate to celebrate something solely for how well crafted it is, but that's definitely a large part of why I dig this track.  Well, that and the fact that it's super catchy.  The band is all set to put out a limited edition 7" on March 29 via Hit City USA.  It'll also be available digitally, so you'll still be able to snatch it up if you miss out on the vinyl.
