Today's Quick Mention: Things are a bit
slim music-wise tonight, but that doesn't mean there
isn't anything to do. You could catch comedian
Tig Notaro at the Ritz, or you could see the
documentary Senna at either the Regal Arbor
or Violet Crown.
Music rambles. Enjoy.

Ring - Bellspeak:
While they have a name that makes me thing they're some sort
of weird sequel band to the Promise Ring, this is the
coolest sounding electronic track I've come across in long
time, and I'm rather ready to find a comfy seat on the PR
bandwagon. You'll be able to physically find this
track on a split 7" that was done with Braids. It's
due out October 11 via Fat Possum.
:Twin
Sister - Gene Ciampi:
I had Twin Sister's debut tucked away nicely on my list of
"albums I'm in no rush to check out," but this song screwed
that all up. It's a blast, with its foreign sound and
just all around retro-enhanced appeal, and now I have no
choice but to be anxious to hear what else they've created.
In Heaven is due out September 27 via Domino Records.
:Girls
- Honey Bunny:
First they impressed with a moody indie rock single titled
Vomit, and now they've rolled out this incredibly
catchy piece of pop. I'm honestly still not sure if
I'd go ahead and refer to myself as a Girls fan, but I'd
definitely be lying if I said I wasn't very interested in
hearing the rest of Father, Son, Holy Ghost.
It's due September 13 on True Panther.
:Soft
Bullets - Rescue Radio:
Here's a new project that's lead by former Air Traffic
singer Chris Wall. It's sporting an alt-rock sound
that you've heard plenty of times, but it's well crafted and
just sing-a-long worthy enough to get lodged in your head.
I don't think the band has an official release lined up yet,
but if I had to guess I'd say they'll probably churn out
something soon.
:Crooked
Fingers - Typhoon:
Archers Of Loaf's Eric Bachmann has long been stellar
working under the moniker of Crooked Fingers, so I'm not
really surprised that this simple effort immediately
impressed. Headphones make this a bit better!
Breaks In The Armor is due out October 11 via Merge
Records. If you want, you can check out a trailer for
the album
here.
