Today's Quick Mention:  There's a handful of shows worth making an effort to see tonight, so go forth and celebrate live music with either Followed By Static and John Wesley Coleman at Emo's, Blue Kabuki at Skinny's Ballroom, or Leatherbag at Lovejoys.

Fresh off the Middle Brother side project and a show at SXSW as Deervana (a Nirvana tribute band), John McCauley has reassembled Deer Tick and crafted a new full length.  I expect it will at least be a solid listen.  The name of the album is Divine Providence, and it is due out everywhere on October 25 via Partisan Records.  Enjoy.

:Deer Tick - Miss K:  Not that I've ever found anything about Deer Tick to be forced or stiff, but I was a little surprised when this turned out to be the most effortless song I've come across in all of 2011.  Seriously, the music glides along like nothing and even lyrics like "some shit always hits the fan" sound casual.  It's a little weird.  But I like it.
