Time for your weekly notable news update!  Below you'll find a slew of sentences meant to provide a brief glimpse of what's been going on over the past week in movieland.  If something leaves you desperate for more info then my advice is to do a little extra research on one or all of the following fantastic sites:  Latino Review, Dark Horizons, Ain't It Cool News, CHUD and/or JoBlo.  Now, read on!
 

Movie News Rundown

Tim Hill (Alvin And The Chipmunks) has been hired to direct a remake of Short Circuit and an adaptation of the book Walter The Farting Dog.

Mark Ruffalo and Amanda Seyfried are in talks to join the cast of Now You See Me.  The movie is said to follow FBI agents who are trying to catch a group of bank robbing illusionists.

Killer Elite has a new trailer.  It features Whitesnake.  Awesome.

Gore Verbinski (Rango) is reportedly close to signing on to direct a big screen adaptation of the game Clue.

Mark Steven Johnson (When In Rome) will direct Autobahn, which is about an ex-racecar driver who has to deliver a package in 90 minutes in order to save his family.

Hopefully The Sitter turns out to be a fun one.  Here's the trailer.

Laurence Fishburne has signed on to play Perry White, the Daily Planet's Chief Editor, in Man Of Steel.

Zack Snyder (Sucker Punch) has replaced Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) as the director of The Last Photograph.  Christian Bale and Sean Penn are reportedly still set to star in the movie about two men traveling through Afghanistan because of a picture.

Coppola's Twixt now has a trailer.  Sort of.  The movie looks weird.

Die Hard 5, which is said to be taking place in Russia, reportedly has a short list of directors that includes: Joe Cornish (Attack The Block), Justin Lin (Fast Five), Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive) and John Moore (Max Payne).

Cameron Crowe recently said he'd be interested in doing a sequel to Say Anything.

Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon will star in Mud. The movie is said to follow a criminal who strikes up a relationship with a young boy.

Not sure what to think about the trailer for The Darkest Hour.

David Cronenberg (Eastern Promises) may direct an adaptation of As She Climbed Across The Table.  The book is said to follow a love triangle between a man, a woman and a lab-created black hole.

The trailer for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is intense.  Watch it.

Steven Soderbergh (Ocean's Eleven) has been spotted directing the second unit for Hunger Games.  The film's director, Gary Ross, reportedly brought him in to help make the March release date.

Brian Kirk (Game Of Thrones) is said to be in talks to direct Thor 2.

Ben Foster will play John Gotti Jr. in Gotti: In The Shadow Of My Father.

Who wants some drama!?  Here's the trailer for Like Crazy.

Russell Brand has been offered the lead male role in Diablo Cody's directorial debut Lamb Of God.  The movie is said to follow a woman who moves to Las Vegas to live the life of a sinner.  Brand would play a bartender.
