Today's Quick Mention: I think it might
be impossible to not find yourself at a great show
tonight. Titus Andronicus, Interpol, School Of
Seven Bells, Cut Copy, Foals, Freelance Whales,
Lightning Bolt! That's awesome stuff.
Get out and see something.
Because launching a snazzy new website just isn't
enough, Paper Bag Records have also released a
compilation that covers Madonna's 1986 album True
Blue. Admittedly, it's kind of an hit or
miss effort, but it's totally free and I think they
have to be given a nice bit of credit for such a random
endeavor. Exchange an email for the download
here.
Enjoy.

Barrett - La Isla Bonita (Madonna Cover):
The original version of this (available in video form below)
is something I'll laugh at and sing-a-long with while I'm
drunk in a bar somewhere, but when sober it's certainly one
of the Madonna songs I'd rather avoid. It's just ridiculous,
and so overly "80s" that it hurts my brain. This,
however, is a slinky, moody interpretation of the song, and
I really dig it.
