Today's Quick Mention: So much good
stuff is going down this weekend. My current
favorite live-act White Denim is at Antone's
tonight. Tomorrow is
Record Store Day,
and you'll be able to find Pete Yorn at Stubb's and
Leatherbag at the Ghost Room. Get out and have
too much fun.
The weekend starts now ... or when you get off work. Enjoy.
:The
Antlers - Every Night My Teeth Are Falling Out:
My favorite part about this song is that the band sent it
over with nothing more than a note saying it was "new."
No long-winded explanation or gimmick to try and get me to
care, they just knew I'd like it, and I do. Can't wait
to see if the rest of the new album is this well crafted.
Burst Apart is due May 10 via Frenchkiss.

The Brotherhood - Shredder:
You can probably read the title of this track and guess what
you're in for, but just in case you're a giant silly face
today I'll go ahead and tell you to expect a fistful of
rock. These guys need to make another trip through
Austin so that I can see them play. Infinity Cat is
all set to release the confidently titled We Are The
Champions on June 21.
:My
Morning Jacket - Circuital:
Is there anything left to really say about My Morning
Jacket? I almost feel as though we should just
automatically accept whatever they put out as something
that's going to be worth at least one good handful of repeat
listens. Right? Anyhow, as if it will come as a
surprise to you, this is a pretty good one.
Circuital is due May 31 on ATO.
:Cults
- Abducted:
Considering that the arrival of this gem puts the band at a
very nice 2/2 when it comes to singles, I think it's time we
all commit to totally loving whatever is awaiting us on
their debut full length. Also, if you don't mind, it'd
be really nice if you'd forget that totally ridiculous
comment I made about them being ruined when they signed to a
major label. Their self titled LP is due June 7 via
Columbia.

Won't Listen - The Echoes:
I've been a pretty big fan of Jason Drake for a long time,
so hearing that the main-brain behind CWL finally managed to
churn out a a new full length is probably the best news I
received all week. Check out this very slick piece of
electro-pop and then feel free to join me in waiting for the
new album to arrive. KEVINSPACEY is due out
June 21 via Daylight Curfew.
