Today's Quick Mention: There's a couple
of nice shows set to go down tonight. Hunx And His Punx are at Emo's Inside, and the
Raveonettes will be playing Emo's Outside. If
you're smooth enough you might be able to float
between the two and have the time of your life.
I know it's been a few weeks since Battles debuted
the first single off their highly anticipated new
album, but it wasn't until yesterday that I actually
got my hands on an mp3 to share with you crazy kids.
So, let's chat about it. The arrival of
Gloss Drop is currently scheduled for June 7
(specifically for my birthday, of course) via Warp.

- Ice Cream (Featuring Matias Aguayo):
This track is just straight up incredible. Partly due
to it being the most sonically interesting thing to come
along in ages, but mostly because the band managed to
totally hit it out of the park despite losing the guy who
was essentially their frontman and being pitted against four
years of high expectations. Most bands only dream of
being able to accomplish such a difficult task. Way to
be, fellas.
