When it comes
to the trick behind this Brighton-based four piece,
proclaiming them as '80s revivalists doesn’t really stand to
impress anyone. While it might not be the most original
premise, this group markedly plays an expert setlist in a
crowded field of amateurs. The influences here are obvious -
as kids, these guys thumbed through their parents' records
preferring the likes of The Cure, New Order and Depeche
Mode. Pardon the pun, but Mirrors reflects the new in new
wave and offers an ‘80s glimmer with a modern sheen. It’s
shimmery, sparkling synth pop with a cold, arrested façade.
With a steeping sound that slowly works itself in, it’s
music that gets in close while still maintaining a good
personal space cause it’s just so damn moody ...
