Today's Quick Mention: Thanks to a
friend of mine I was able to check out the one and
only Janet Jackson at ACL Live at the Moody Theater
last night. It was awesome. In fact, had
I known it was going to be so good I would have
totally just bought tix (and they were far from
cheap). If you can, see her.
Music for your Monday.
Enjoy.

Mice - Festival:
I really love this song, and that's definitely a good thing
since I've been unable to get it out of my head all weekend.
The damn thing just oozes charm thanks to frontman Jason
Ruegel's casual vocal style and the very jam-like structure
of the arrangement. Hopefully their upcoming full
length is packed with more of the same. Twister
is due on June 7 via Wao Wao Records.

Adore - Sparrow:
This duo have already made a couple of appearances here at
SOTO, but now I'm mentioning them in the context of making
it known that I'm ready to hear an album. One-off pop
gems like this are now just not enough, and I need more.
Supposedly, an LP is in the works, and I can only assume
that it will come out via Neon Gold Records. More
info? Anybody?
:Rome
- Black (Featuring Norah Jones):
On Friday I posted the Rome track that features Jack White,
and now I have the other tune that's being heavily pushed to
support the LP. To be honest, I'm just more
predisposed to prefer anything that carries the name of Jack
White on it, but this is a very slick effort that's
certainly worth your time. The act's self titled debut
is due out May 17 via Lex/EMI.
:Oregon
Bike Trails - Swimsuit:
For the life of me I can't remember what blog I found this
song on, but I do vividly recall the writer spewing all
sorts of loving comments. So are they worth all the
adoration? Maybe. If I were to just judge by
this quirky and very fun to listen to track, I'd say yes.
The final verdict will have to wait until the band releases
an official full length. Check out their
Bandcamp while you wait.
:Low
- Especially Me:
This has been floating around for a good week or so (an
eternity on the internet, I know), so I'm guessing that
quite a few of you have already been obsessing over it.
If you haven't heard it, then get ready to fall in love with
Low again, as this is an awesome track. Headphones are
highly recommended! The veteran act will release
C'mon on April 12 via Sub Pop.
