Today's Quick Mention:  I'm more than likely not going to make it, but you should definitely go and see Akron/Family and Delicate Steve at the Parish tonight.  Tickets are $17.  Doors at 8pm.

Sorry these are going up a little later than planned.  April Fools!  Or something.  Anyhow, here are five songs for you to check out.  Enjoy.

:Death Cab For Cutie - You Are A Tourist:  Death Cab's post-Transatlanticism work hasn't been awful by any means, but I'd definitely say there's been somewhat of a sleepy (or boring, if you prefer) angle to it.  Now, this song isn't going to blow the roof off your house or anything, but it's got some nifty guitar work and just enough kick to make the new LP seem like it could be a fun listen.  Atlantic will release Codes And Keys on May 31.

:Rome - Two Against One (Featuring Jack White):  Danger Mouse and Jack White?  Yes.  Forever.  Or, as is the case in this track, at least for about two and half minutes.  This is obviously a quick taste, but in just a short span of time you get some great vocal work from White and an awesome arrangement from DM and Daniele Luppi.  I really can't wait to get my hands on the act's self titled debut.  It's due May 17 on Lex/EMI.

:The Rosebuds - Second Bird Of Paradise:  I've come to realize that I never really know what to expect from this duo.  Sometimes it's a dancey piece of pop, other times it's a little heavier, and here it's just straight up moody, dark and a little weird.  Fortunately, I'm pretty much OK with their randomness.  The sure to be all over the place Loud Planes Fly Low is due June 7 (my birthday) on Merge Records.

:Gomez - Options:  Gomez are back.  For some, that means a new full length they can't wait to own forever.  For me, it means I get a really catchy single and an immediate reminder that this band has never put out an album that's been able to hold my interest for more than a playthrough or two.  Maybe this time around things will be different?  We'll see.  Whatever's On Your Mind is due on store shelves in June.

:Ages And Ages - So So Freely:  Despite actually knowing a guy in the lineup, somewhere along the way I totally missed out on Ages And Ages.  SHAME.  Fortunately, fate has provided me an opportunity to fix the situation.  The band just released this infectious little pop number as their latest single, and they'll be at the Mohawk with Lake on April 20.  Go see them with me.  Alright You Restless is currently available on Knitting Factory Records.
