Today's Quick Mention: Anyone heading
out to Stubb's tonight for Ratatat? I'm really
tempted to try and go, but I've seen them before and
I doubt their show will be too different.
Also, there's a part of me that thinks it would be a
better idea to hit up Emo's for Casiotone For The
Painfully Alone's farewell tour stop in Austin.
Or maybe I'll just watch Monday Night Football.
So many choices.
And now, some music. Enjoy.

Sea Power - Zeus:
It's amazing how often this band sneaks up on me. I
mean, they're really good, and yet I routinely forget that
little fact until a new single drops in my lap and brings me
back to reality. Anyhow, this makes me think of early
Walkmen - sloppy and inspired. You'll like it.
Rough Trade will place the Zeus EP in stores
everywhere on October 4.
:Diamond
Rings - Something Else:
I've yet to find anything from John O'Regan that leads me to
believe he's capable of doing something other than
simplistic little pop tunes ... but he's really good
at it, so I don't care. Look for the long awaited (and
highly anticipated, I believe) debut full length to be
released on October 26 via Secret City Records. It's
called Special Affectations.

- Dialtone:
There's undoubtedly going to be a portion of you who simply
won't be able to get past the Bjork similarities here, but
those of you who don't have an issue with that will notice
an artist that's doing some pretty cool things in the realm
of experimental pop. I'm not entirely sure when her
next next full length is due (or even what it's called), so
just keep checking back for more info/music.
:Ham1
- Ghost Loop:
I don't even remember the last time I shared a track from
Ham1, so it's nice to see them back with something new.
Of course, it's easy to say that considering they returned
to SOTO with a jangly pop gem. Let's Go On And On
And On With Ham1 is due sometime in the fall on Orange
Twin Records. My guess is that it'll be pretty good.
:Satellite
Stories - Kids Aren't Safe In The Metro:
Want a guilty pleasure to help get your week started?
Then look no further than this track from the Finland-based
Satellite Stories. It's super catchy, dancey and
you'll probably want to conceal just how much you like it so
that people don't wonder when you turned in to a teenage
girl. The band has an EP coming out later in the fall.
