For the sake of not having to write the same intro a million different ways throughout the rest of time, just know that this column avoids the overly long and sometimes dull process of full film reviews and instead opts to break things down based on what I thought going in, what happened while I was there and what I learned at the end of it all.  Hope that's OK.

Read on!

The Breakdown - Buried

The Impression:

Ryan Reynolds jumps in a box and attempts to cull the claustrophobic portion of the moving-going population.

The Reality:

The trailer for this leads you to believe that the movie is about Ryan Reynolds stuck in a coffin that’s been placed in the ground.  And?  Well, that’s actually what takes place.  There isn’t a whole lot else that goes on (nothing happens outside of that box), but I will say the political/social commentary is interesting.  Also, there’s some very nicely placed comic relief and I really have to applaud the daring ending.  Will you feel the need to return for repeat viewings?  Probably not.  Buried is the definition of a one-time thrill ride.

The Lesson:

Just another reason to never visit Iraq.
