Today's Quick Mention:  Fantastic Fest starts today!  I'm going to be trying my hardest to keep the music part of SOTO consistent over the next week, but don't be surprised if there ends up being more films reviews than actual tunes.  You'll love it.  Probably.

Finally, Nicole Atkins has returned from her time out of the spotlight.  It's only via a 7" titled Vultures, but she's so good that I'll take whatever I can get.  Check out the title track below.  Razor & Tie, which is Nicole's new home, released the 7" (a cover of Can's Vitamin C is the b-side) earlier this week, and they will put out the Mondo Amore LP in January.  Enjoy.

:Nicole Atkins - Vultures:  At its core, Nicole's music is simply radio ready pop.  However, she's so great at adding a darker edge to her sound that you end up left with something that really makes for a great listen.  Grab headphones.  Or don't.  Either way, you're going to want to play this as often and as loud as you can.  The world needs that LP now.  Also, I could use an Austin date on her current tour.  Someone work that out.
