For the
sake of not having to write the same intro a million
different ways throughout the rest of time, just know that
this column avoids the overly long and sometimes dull
process of full film reviews and instead opts to break
things down based on what I thought going in, what happened
while I was there and what I learned at the end of it all.
Hope that's OK.

The
Breakdown - The Social Network
The Impression:
Director David Fincher (Fight Club, Zodiac)
and writer Aaron Sorkin (West Wing, Charlie
Wilson's War) team up to tell the tale of how Facebook
got started. And it may even be interesting!
The Reality:
Let's face it, no one in the world is really all that
curious to find out how Facebook came to be. Sure, a
whopping 500 million people use it on a daily basis, but
none of them (you or me) are constantly logging in and
wondering where Mark Zuckerberg got such a great idea.
With that being said, The Social Network is
fantastic. The way it's cut, the music, the acting,
the writing - all of it is done in such a riveting way that
you'll be stuck at the edge of your seat for its entire two
hour runtime. I certainly didn't expect such an
infinitely intriguing movie about some nerdy Harvard
undergrad (who may or may not have lifted a concept from
some folks), but that's what I got. Consider this one
a can't-miss.
The Lesson:
An incredibly compelling story with great talent behind and
in front of the camera equals out to one of the year's best
films. Go figure.
