Time for your weekly notable news update!  Below you'll find a slew of sentences meant to provide a brief glimpse of what's been going on over the past week in movieland.  If something leaves you desperate for more info then my advice is to do a little extra research on one or all of the following fantastic sites:  Latino Review, Dark Horizons, Ain't It Cool News, CHUD and/or JoBlo.  Now, read on!

Movie News Rundown

Because everyone didn't already totally know, Casey Affleck confessed that he and Joaquin Phoenix fabricated I'm Still Here.

Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale will star in Contraband.  The movie is a remake of Reykjavik-Rotterdam, an Icelandic film about a man who gets sucked back in to a life of crime.

Now that the Harry Potter series is coming to an end, Warner Bros. is rumored to be getting ready to really push its DC Comics characters onto the big screen.

See the trailer for The Fighter here.  Looks solid.

Danny Trejo and Erin Cummings (Bitch Slap) will star in Tarantula.  The movie follows a woman who is struggling to break away from a biker gang so that she can start a new life.

It's been confirmed that Sacha Baron Cohen has been cast as Freddie Mercury in the upcoming biopic that's based on the Queen frontman.

Ron Perlman has joined the cast of Drive.  The film stars Ryan Gosling as a stuntman who also moonlights as a getaway driver.

The Tourist has a trailer.  Kind of nice to see Johnny Depp in something other than an elaborate costume.

Malin Akerman (Watchmen) and Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under) will appear in Wanderlust with Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston.  The movie follows a couple who are forced to move from New York City to a hippie commune in Atlanta.

Russell Crowe has reportedly agreed to co-star in RZA's The Man With The Iron Fist.  No word yet on exactly why he decided to do this.

Check out Vince Vaughn and Kevin James in the trailer for The Dilemma.  Seems very bland.

Jon Hamm (Mad Men, The Town) is being rumored as a possible new Superman.

Sandra Bullock is said to be the next preferred choice for Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity if Natalie Portman turns down the lead female role.

Warner  Bros. is reportedly putting together a live action Pinocchio.

There's a new trailer for Tangled.  It does not make the movie look better.

Jennifer Garner will star in The Odd Life Of Timothy Green and Chemistry.  The former follows a couple and the relationship with their child prodigy, and the latter is about a woman who introduces a bored man to the pleasures of prescription drugs.

Mark Millar (Wanted, Kick Ass) is putting the pen down to direct Miracle Park.  The plot centers around some daring animal activists who accidentally come across a secret base owned by the US government.

Casino Jack continues to look like a good time.  See the trailer here.

Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch will star in Killer Joe, which is about two siblings who decide to kill off their mother for insurance money.

Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Laurence Fishburne, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, John Hawkes, Chin Han, Josie Ho, Demetri Martin, Jennifer Ehle, Bryan Cranston and Elliott Gould will all star in Steven Soderbergh's Contagion.  The movie follows a variety of characters (obviously) after a virus breaks out.

Due Date has a new trailer.  The movie still looks hilarious.

Mickey Rourke will star in Ice Man: Confession Of A Mafia Killer.  The film will tell the true story of convicted murderer/assassin Richard "The Ice Man" Kuklinski.
