For the
sake of not having to write the same intro a million
different ways throughout the rest of time, just know that
this column avoids the overly long and sometimes dull
process of full film reviews and instead opts to break
things down based on what I thought going in, what happened
while I was there and what I learned at the end of it all.
Hope that's OK.

The
Breakdown - The Town
The Impression:
Ben Affleck follows up his directorial debut with another
film about Boston. Only, this time he jumps in front
of the camera and changes the main character into a bad man
with a soft side.
The Reality:
If you saw Gone Baby Gone then it shouldn't take you
long to settle in with The Town. Both movies
have a similar tone and feel and they definitely do their
best to make Boston look like a city that should be torn
down and buried forever. However, where the former was
short on the action and built up to a twist, the latter is a
very straight forward and predictable action romp about a
"townie" trying to get a new life. I realize that may
sound like it wasn't overly enjoyable, but I liked it.
Affleck is a force (behind the camera and in front of it)
and if you keep your expectations in check you'll find a
film worth spending time with.
The Lesson:
Ben Affleck is here to stay, but he still hasn't quite found
his place.
