Today's Quick Mention:  In random but interesting news, Surfer Blood have apparently jumped from Kanine to Warner Bros.  Does this mean that fuzzy retro pop is now going mainstream?  Will some of the numerous other bands with similar sounds start getting big deals?  Discuss!

Today's EP is a bit raucous for a Monday, but I think you can handle it.  Enjoy.

:Japandroids - Heavenward Grand Prix:  These guys have been having a great year.  They're touring all over the world in support of 2009's Post Nothing and their 7" series has yet to even come close to disappointing.  This track, which is as low key as I hope we'll ever hear them, might be my favorite so far.  Crank the volume and then head over to Polyvinyl to do a little shopping.  The 7" is due November 16 and is limited to only 200 copies!

:The Budos Band - Kakal:  I love the The Budos Band III, so naturally I was thrilled to see that eMusic had a bonus track for it available on their site.  The tune is a stellar and and overly groovy effort, and I'm sure the dancey part of your soul will like it.  A lot.  If you haven't picked up the band's latest album then I advise that you do so.  I wouldn't want all the cool kids to point and laugh at you.

:Monotonix - Give Me More:  This band seems to only be known for their live show (I hear it's somewhere beyond explosive) and not any actual music, but they do have some stuff, like this sloppy and wildly fun first single, that's worth hearing outside of a venue.  Monotonix will be at Fun Fun Fun Fest in November and I'm guessing the new full length will be out early next year.

:Parlovr - Hell, Heaven:  Dine Alone Records only put out this act's debut a couple of months ago, but I still think there's a noticeable jump in quality on their upcoming EP.  Probably because they seemed to have opted to get a little adventurous, and it's added a little extra life into an already expansive sound.  Consider me intrigued to see where they go from here.  The Heaven/Hell/Big/Love EP is due on October 19.  You should get it.

:The Sacred Broncos - Runnin' Shoes:  Here's a fun piece of garage rock that's been sitting in my inbox for far too long.  Expect to like it.  Unfortunately, the band didn't include much information in their email to me, so all I can really say about them is that they're from Fort Wayne, Indiana ... and they may have a 7" floating around out there in the world somewhere.
