Today's Quick Mention:  As I'm surely know, ACL starts today!  It's honestly my least favorite festival, but I am looking forward to a few parts of it.  Plus, there's some nice shows going on once the lights go out at Zilker Park.  My recommendations are Mates Of State at the Mohawk tonight (that's actually a free one), School Of Seven Bells/Active Child at the same venue tomorrow and then Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros at the Beauty Bar on Sunday.

Here's five tracks whether or not you have an exhausting weekend ahead of you.  Enjoy.

:The Heavy - That Kind Of Man:  I really like these guys, so I'm happy to see that they've decided to try and cash-in on their current Kia commercial fame.  This, which is actually an updated version of an older track, doesn't have as insane of a hook as their aforementioned ad fodder, but it's still as groovy and fun as anything you're going to find right now.  The How You Like Me Now? EP is due 10/19 on Ninja Tune, and then ten days later the band will play the Mohawk.

:Dumbo Gets Mad - Eclectic Prawn:  Getting past the random as hell name might be too much to ask for some of you, but if you can do it you'll definitely discover a pop song that's worth remembering.  Be warned though, there's a good chance this summer-enthused number will make you yearn for the beach.  I believe this only available as a digital download, so grab it while you can.

:The Lucksmiths - Get To Bed Birds:  Not sure I realized it until I listened to this song, but I've totally missed bands like this.  No one does that sort of crisp and super well crafted indie pop that the Lucksmiths, Death Cab For Cutie and a slew of other acts use to do.  Oh well.  It happens.  One day someone will be sitting around wondering what happened to all the fuzzy pop in the world.  The aptly titled Farewell 7" is out later this year on Matinee.

:Husky Rescue - Fast Lane:  I'm not going to lie, part of the reason I find this song so appealing is the 90s-esque whispered-talking-vocal part that happens at the three minute mark.  It's ridiculous.  And awesome.  Although, I suppose I should say it probably wouldn't be that great if the rest of Fast Lane wasn't pure quality.  Catskills Records released Ship Of Light this week.

:Rye Rye - Sunshine (Featuring MIA):  I've heard quite a bit of buzz about Rye Rye, and now that I've taken the time to actually listen to her I can see why she's garnering some excitement.  However, MIA's fingerprints are all over this gloriously upbeat gem, and I kind of feel as though she's more responsible for what makes it such a great track.  Go! Pop! Bang! is due on NEET Records next year.
