Rundown
A deal to
finally put the Hobbit into production is said to be
close to happening between Warner Bros. and MGM.
The video game Just Cause may get adapted to the big
screen.
Guillermo Del Toro will write and direct Trollhunters
for Dreamworks. The film will be animated and isn't
expected for a few years.
I Am Number Four just got a
teaser. Looks way more cheesy than I
thought it would.
George Lucas has announced that all six of the Star Wars
movies will land in theaters in 3D in 2012.
Ridley Scott and Fox are said to be at odds in regards to
the planned Alien prequel. Apparently Scott
wants $250 and an "R" rating, and he isn't willing to budge.
Emma Thompson may sign on to play the head of MIB in Men
In Black 3.
James Franco has picked up the rights to The Adderall
Diaries. He plans to write, direct and star in the
story about Hans Resier, a man who was charged with killing
the woman he met through a Russian dating service.
Josh Holloway (Lost) has joined the cast of
Mission Impossible 4.
There's now a second
trailer for Skyline. Still
looks completely ridiculous.
Sam Raimi and Bill Blocks (District 9) are said to be
in talks with Warner Bros. about a movie called EDF.
It's said to feature very large scale action and a story
that follows Earth trying to rally and prepare for an
impending alien attack.
Gore Verbinski (Pirates Of The Caribbean) may direct
The Lone Ranger. Johnny Depp is still attached to
star.
Guy Ritchie has cast Jared Harris (Mad Men) as
Moriarty and Stephen Fry as Mycroft Holmes in Sherlock
Holmes 2.
I'm loving the
trailer for Night Catches Us.
Very old school feel.
Natalie Portman is being rumored as a choice to play Lois
Lane in the next Superman movie. She's also
said to be in final negotiations to join Alfonso Cuaron's
Gravity.
Matthew McConaughey has signed on to appear in Richard
Linklater's Bernie. The film, which will star Jack
Black and is based on a true story, follows a small town
funeral director who befriends a wealthy benefactor and then
kills her.
The Coen brothers can do no wrong, and the
trailer for True Grit reaffirms
that.
Speaking of Superman, Darren Aronofsky is said to
have been placed on the short list of possible directors.
Fred Durst is all set to direct Pawn Shop Chronicles.
The movie is said to follow a wild chase that happens after
a wedding ring goes missing.
Ciaran Hinds (Rome) and Violanet Placido (The
American) have joined Ghost Rider: Spirit Of
Vengeance.
Rian Johnson has cast Emily Blunt in Looper.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis are already set to
star in the time travel-based flick.
A film based on the Myst video game series is said to
be in the early stages of getting made.
Robert Zemeckis is set to direct Timeless. No
word yet on the plot.
Warner Bros. would like for Ben Affleck to direct Tales
From The Gangster Squad. The movie is said to be
based on the true story of a police task force in the 1940s
that pursued high profile criminals.
