Today's Quick Mention: I'm planning on
sleeping all weekend, but that doesn't mean there
isn't plenty of live music to see. Future
Islands, Here We Go Magic, Felice Brothers, Adam
Haworth Stephens, The Gary, the Dandy Warhols,
Hopewell - they're all going to be here.
Showlist Austin
has the details.
Five for Friday. Enjoy.

Eye - Bring The Light:
I don't think I've paid any real attention to Oasis since I
was in high school, so I have to admit I was a little
surprised to find myself interested in this track.
After all, Beady Eye is essentially Oasis minus crazy-man
Noel Gallagher. Maybe it's the idea of a fresh start?
I don't know. Anyhow, this is kind of spunky, and I
like it. The Bring The Light 7" is already sold
out, but a full length is expected next year.
:Fredrik
- White On White:
Originally a duo, Fredrik now sport a third member.
Honestly, I don't hear much of a difference with Anna Moberg
in the lineup, but that doesn't mean she isn't contributing
awesome things. Or whatever. Either way, the
point is that they're still making headphone-worthy pop
tunes that are well worth your time. The Origami
EP is due November 16 via The Kora Records.

Clov - District Menagerie:
Where has this group been? The last thing I remember
hearing from them was way back in 2006 (when SOTO was just a
baby). Thankfully, the long break doesn't seem to have
altered the sincere indie pop they originally caught my
attention with. Memento Mori is the name of the
band's album, and it's currently available on Paper Garden
Records.

- Clamor:
While I love my instrumental music to have overly long
runtimes and to be as epic as possible, I really admire how
much this local act can do within such a small window.
For instance, this new track is a mere three minutes, but
every second of it is textured joy. The
Candor/Clamor 7" is due December 7 on Western Vinyl.
Also, if you haven't already, pick up Constellations.
:Asobi
Seksu - Trails:
I believe this one may be what's called a grower. You
probably won't immediately love/get the variety of things
the band is throwing at you with Trails, but give it
an extra listen or two and I think you'll find a fairly cool
indie pop tune. It's just semi-oddly put together.
The always reliable Polyvinyl will release Fluorescence
on February 15.
