For the
sake of not having to write the same intro a million
different ways throughout the rest of time, just know that
this column avoids the overly long and sometimes dull
process of full film reviews and instead opts to break
things down based on what I thought going in, what happened
while I was there and what I learned at the end of it all.
Hope that's OK.

The
Breakdown - Due Date
The Impression:
Todd Phillips (mastermind behind The Hangover) sends
Robert Downey Jr. and Zack Galifianakis on a road trip of
potentially epic hilariousness.
The Reality:
Yes, this movie is funny. I wouldn't say it has enough
laughs to make you fall out of your chair and roll around on
the ground, but you'll definitely spend a good portion of
the runtime cracking up. Unfortunately, both of the
lead characters have nothing at all worth liking about them.
Peter (Robert) is a massive asshole of untold proportions
and, while I understand the stress he's under, he does some
seriously fucked up things. Ethan (Zack) is the
quirky/weirdo/nice guy of the two, but he also acts in a
manner that's incredibly difficult to sympathize with.
Of course, there's a good chance you won't care. I
mostly didn't since the jokes move fast and work a majority
of the time, but the more I set here and let that aspect of
the movie sit with me the less I like what I got from Due
Date.
The Lesson:
Don't think. Just laugh! Also, Zack Galifianakis
is funny. Believe it, or Hollywood will break into
your home and shave your head while you're asleep.
