Today's Quick Mention: Just in case you
managed to forget, Fun Fun Fun Fest is this weekend!
You should probably buy a ticket (if you haven't
already) and join me for what I think is Austin's
best music festival not called SXSW. See the
full lineup
here.
Time now for some tunes. Enjoy.

Island - Patterns On The Wall (Featuring Andrew WK):
At first I thought this was an odd pairing, but then I
realized they both make the kind of modern rock I couldn't
get enough of when I was 20. And when combined?
Well, let's just say it makes for a good excuse to do some
cubicle rocking. This is the b-side of a 7" that Fang
Island will be selling at shows throughout the month.
It's limited to only 500 copies, so snag one quickly.

Wave Riders - Big Sound:
Talk about getting to the point. When I received an
email from this band a few weeks ago it only said "take it
or leave it" and had a song attached. On one hand, I
like that they got straight to the point of sharing this
80s-esque pop gem, but that essentially leaves me with no
other info about them. My guess is that an official
release will be out in the near future.
:Now,
Now - Neighbors:
Formerly known as Now, Now Every Child, this Minneapolis
trio have returned! They had some really cool sounding
tracks a few years back and, fortunately for everyone, it
seems as though they're still sporting the winning
combination of Cacie Dalager's stellar voice and perfectly
layered arrangements. The Neighbors EP is due
December 7 on No Sleep Records. I can't wait to get my
hands on it.

Castles - Not In Love (Featuring Robert Smith):
It may have just been my Twitter feed, but I was kind of
surprised at the semi-negative feedback that initially came
out about this track. Personally, I think it's pretty
infectious and I like it more than the version that appeared
on CC's latest LP. But whatever. To each his
own. If you want, you'll be able to get this and
a couple of b-sides on December 6 via iTunes.
:Madison
- Number 1:
SOTO has been somewhat devoid of guilty pleasures over the
last few weeks, so I'm kind of happy that the new effort
from Madison popped up in my inbox late last week.
Expect this to get stuck in your head for a good long while.
Also, don't try to keep yourself from dancing. Just
let go. The Noise Some People Make EP is due
out in January on G Records.
