Today's Quick Mention: Do any of you
use Napster? My initial feeling about it was
one of interest, but I've quickly waned and been
unable to find anything great about the service,
especially the "radio" portion that seems rather
lazily slapped together. Maybe I'm doing
something wrong ... ?
The rest of the world is, as they probably should
be, writing on and on about the two new Arcade Fire
songs that leaked yesterday. I, on the other
hand, can't decide if either of the tunes are worth
getting excited about, so instead today you're
getting Mt. Saint Helens Vietnam Band. Their
new album is titled Where The Messengers Meet
and it's due out August 3 on Dead Oceans.
Enjoy.
:Mt
Saint Helens Vietnam Band - Leaving Trails:
This is honestly kind of a strange track, in that it doesn't
really have what I'd consider a clear beginning and end.
It just sort of starts and then concludes with changing much
at all. Usually, I'm not a big fan of things that are
structured in such an awkward fashion, but because this
still manages to pack a rather intriguing edge, I think it's
taken-out-of-context style works really well. It'll be
interesting to see what this is sandwiched in between on the
LP. I hope it's epic.
