Today's Quick Mention: Pitchfork has a
pretty cool

of the outdoor (and sometimes free) shows that'll be
taking place in New York City over the summer.
Yeah, that may not mean much for us Austin kids, but
who says we can't wing a road trip?
There's not much I'm currently looking forward to
more than the sophomore effort from School Of Seven
Bells, so having the first single today is kind of
like winning the top prize off a scratch-off lottery
ticket. Or something. Anyway, the song
is good. Look for Disconnect From
Desire to be released by Vagrant on July 13.

Of Seven Bells - Babelonia:
Over at Stereogum (that's where the track premiered) there's
some quotes from the band that mention they wanted to make
the kind of tracks that work just as well over a PA as they
do in headphones. I don't think their debut was
necessarily missing that, but either way, this song is
definitely carrying a bigger sonic punch. So, be nice,
and oblige the band in their request that you crank the
volume on this.
