Today's Quick Mention: Lots of good
live music set for this weekend. Tonight I'm
heading to Stubb's for Ben Folds and then the Parish
for Shearwater (and hopefully Wye Oak).
Tomorrow the plan is for a little roller derby, and
then I'm off to the Mohawk for the Midgetmen's 8th
Anniversary Show. Join me!
While I did like The Dead Weather's debut, it didn't
take me too long before I was sort of done with it.
In fact, I don't think I had heard any of the
"older" tunes they played at Stubb's last week
(awesome show, by the way) in at least a good 6-8
months. So will the new album have more
weight? Maybe. Probably. We'll see
when Sea Of Cowards drops May 11.
Enjoy.
:The
Dead Weather - Hustle And Cuss:
This song doesn't have the same sort of bewildered intensity
that the newly released Die By The Drop or
Gasoline (featured below in faux-video form) has, so I
wouldn't come into this hoping for a rollicking good time
that may or may not feature fist pumping. No, this
kind of meanders around and seems more intent on getting you
to do a jig. Sounds weird, I know, but I dig it.
A lot.
