Movie News Rundown

It looks as though we'll be getting Batman 3 and GI Joe 2 in the summer of 2012.  The first part of The Hobbit should arrive in December of that year as well.

The new trailer for Splice looks pretty cool.  And creepy.

There's a rumor that Tommy Lee Jones may be close to joining the cast of Captain America.

I don't usually get excited about photos/stills, but the first image from Thor is pretty cool.

Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass) has reportedly passed up the opportunity to direct X-Men First Class.

JJ Abrams is said to be working on a movie that will pay homage to the Steven Spielberg films of the 70s and 80s.  No word yet on a title.

Black Death has a trailer.  Looks like old school men on a mission kind of fun.

Speaking of JJ Abrams, he and his production company, Bad Robot, have returned the Dark Tower rights to Stephen King, and it would now seem that Ron Howard, Brian Glazer and Akiva Goldsmith may try to adapt the books in a movie and TV series.

Because I know you love horse movies, here's the new trailer for Secretariat.

20th Century Fox is looking to adapt Incognito into a movie.  The graphic novel dealt with a villain trying to make it in witness protection after he rats out his boss.

Adam McKay recently mentioned on Twitter that Paramount "basically passed" on Anchorman 2.  Seems as though they thought it was too expensive to make.

On the bright side, Paramount is apparently working on a film based around the Magic 8-Ball.

Winter's Bone looks overly intense.  See the trailer here.

Commando is the latest action classic on track to be remade by 20th Century Fox.

Sequels to Journey To The Center Of The Earth and Clash Of The Titans are currently being mulled over.

Warner Bros. is working on Leonardo Da Vinci And The Soldiers Of Forever, which apparently casts the historical figure as an action hero.

Piranha 3D has a new trailer.  It looks pretty fun.

Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) has been confirmed as the director The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.

Ang Lee will shoot The Life Of Pi in 3D.  The book follows a boy who ends up on a life raft with a tiger after the ship he is on crashes.

Marvel is said to be looking to get Ant-Man back on track with director Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim, Hot Fuzz).

Rose Byrne will face off against Kristen Wiig in the currently untitled Judd Apatow comedy about two bridesmaids battling it out.

Check out the new teaser for Buried.  I'm really excited to see this.

Doug Liman is trying to attain the rights to the Gambit remake that was written by the Coen Brothers.  He's also said to be looking at directing The Three Musketeers.

Shia LaBeouf has signed on to star in The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countrymen.  The story is said to follow a young man who falls in love with a gangster's prostitute.

Richard Gere and Topher Grace will star in The Double, which follows an older CIA agent who has to team up with a young one to solve a case.

Jonah Hex finally got a trailer.  It looks laugh out loud bad.

Kevin James and Salma Hayek may star in Here Comes The Boom.  Adam Sandler will produce.  No word yet on the plot.

Bryce Dallas Howard  and Emma Stone will star in The Help.  The movie deals with rich people and their relationships with their servants in the 60s.
