Rundown
Reportedly,
things are officially (and finally) underway for David
Cronenberg and Viggo Mortensen to do a sequel to Eastern
Promises.
If Maleficent, the modern take on Sleeping Beauty,
gets made by Disney there's a good chance that Angelina
Jolie might play the villain. There's also a rumor
that Tim Burton might direct.
Bryan Singer will be producing and not directing X-Men:
First Class.
Scott Pilgrim Vs The World has a
trailer. Looks fun.
Louis Leterrier has been rumored as a possible director for
the Y: The Last Man flick that has been in
development for a rather long time.
The director for Paranormal Activity 2 is actually an
unknown named Kip Williams.
In news that doesn't make any sense, Jamie Foxx is said to
be writing a Laverne And Shirley movie that might
star Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel.
Check out the new
trailer for The Square. Seems
pretty intense.
Will Smith is said to be considering Men In Black 3.
If he doesn't do that then it's likely he'll finally get
around to committing to the kids fantasy film The City
That Sailed.
Brian De Palma is being considered as the director for
Paranormal Activity 2.
Brad Bird is being targeted as the director of Mission
Impossible IV. Wow.
Angela Bassett has been cast as Dr. Amanda Waller in the
Green Lantern.
The Popeye movie will be CG and in 3D.
The new Predators
trailer looks fairly incredible.
Chris Evans has been cast as
Captain America.
Emma Thompson is said to be writing a remake of My Fair
Lady. Carey Mulligan and Hugh Grant are rumored to
be starring.
Zack Snyder says that he plans on directing Xerxes,
the 300 prequel that Frank Miller is currently
writing.
Paul WS Anderson has been hired to the direct Buck Rogers
3D.
Kevin Smith's next effort will be Red State, which is
the horror film he's been planning for years.
I realized today that I missed about a month of these
updates due to personal reasons and the crazy time warp that
is SXSW, so for fun I went back and gathered the bigger
stories that broke during the four weeks I was absent.

Darren Aronofsky and Angelina Jolie may be teaming up for an
adaptation of Serena: The Novel. It supposedly
follows a woman who repeatedly convinces her husband to
commit terrible acts.
Speaking of Angelina Jolie, it looks as though Wanted 2
will now continue on without her.
Hugo Weaving is said to be up for the role of the villain
Red Skull in the upcoming Captain America movie.
Mel Gibson recently said that his currently untitled Viking
movie may actually be his last as a director.
Tim Burton is working on bringing a 3D stop motion version
of the Addams Family to the big screen.
There's a rumor floating around that Slumdog
Millionaire's Freida Pinto has been cast as the next
Bond girl.
Louis Leterrier is said to be on the shortlist of choices to
direct The Avengers.
A remake of Monster Squad is underway with Rob Cohen
as the director. No word yet on whether or not Shane
Black will also pen the new flick.
Jason Segel has officially joined the cast of the untitled
Muppets movie that he's been working on for seemingly
forever. Maybe it's close to starting production?
Clint Eastwood is said to be looking at doing a biopic on J.
Edgar Hoover.
