For the
sake of not having to write the same intro a million
different ways throughout the rest of time, just know that
this column avoids the overly long and sometimes dull
process of full film reviews and instead opts to break
things down based on what I thought going in, what happened
while I was there and what I learned at the end of it all.
Hope that's OK.

SXSW
Breakdown - Mr. Nice
The Impression:
"A dealer is really just someone who buys more dope than he
can smoke" This is the true story of famous drug
trafficker Howard Marks.
The Reality:
The trailer has what I like to think of as a Confessions
Of A Dangerous Mind-like feel to it, but it's actually a
fairly straight run through of the life and times of a guy
who really like selling and smoking weed. Only,
this guy did it like no one else for a very long time, so
for two hours you're just incessantly bombarded with
information. It's almost too much. Fortunately
though, the story is wildly entertaining, Bernard Rose's
direction is brilliant (you'll love the digital insertion
into stock footage technique) and Rhys Ifans turns in a
performance that will probably be buzzed about the rest of
the year. Whenever this makes it into theaters, see
it.
The Lesson:
Selling drugs is interesting ... and fun!
