Today's Quick Mention:  I don't really know anything about the Calgary Folk Festival (even though it has been around over 30 years), but if you live in Canada you should consider going next month just to see the "arranged marriage" that they've put together for 2010.  It's Annie Clark of St. Vincent with Man Man.  Wow.  I honestly can't imagine what those two will create onstage.  Get more info on the CFF here.

Another five-songer!  This one has a few tracks I missed from last week and a couple of new ones that I couldn't wait to share.  Enjoy.

:Best Coast - Boyfriend:  I keep expecting to completely burn out on this act, but I think I actually like them more with every song that finds its way to my inbox.  If you've somehow ignored their constant presence for the last year then this charming pop number will probably be what finally wins you over, as it is just about perfect.  Crazy For You is due out July 27 on Mexican Summer.  It's a must-get.

:Of Montreal - Coquet Coquette:  It's been a long while since this well-known band put out anything I felt was worth talking about, so consider me pleasantly surprised with this.  Although, my reaction could be coming from the fact that it isn't what I expected.  This track has a big, full sound and, perhaps as a potential downside to some of you, I'd call it more alternative than I would glam or dancey.  False Priest will be out September 14.

:Sambassadeur - I Can Try:  Two things occurred when I first listened to this song.  It reminded me that I totally forgot to seek out the full length that the band put out way back in February, and it completely lodged itself in my head for all eternity.  What a beautiful piece of pop!  Turn this up loud and do what I should have done long ago, hit up Labrador immediately for a copy of European.

:No Kids - The Jazz Singer:  Upset that MGMT went all weird on you with their latest album?  Then get on with life and listen to No Kids.  They're not only better at electro-pop, but it's rather unlikely that they'll resent their own music and then alienate all their fans with a total sound change (and this is coming from someone who doesn't mind Congratulations).  The Judy At The Grove EP is out now on Tomlab.  A sophomore LP is expected by the end of the year.

:Devotionals - Chest Like Expansive Wings:  I don't know why I expected Tyson Vogel to branch out on his own and do something similar to what he's always done in Two Gallants, but I did.  And I was so very wrong.  Most of you may not have the patience for such an intricately crafted instrumental tune, but those of you do that will probably want to immediately hear more.  Alive Records will put out the self titled debut on July 13.
