Today's Quick Mention:  As if I willed them here myself, both the Budos Band and Pavement have announced shows in Austin.  The former will be playing at the Mohawk on August 21, and the latter will be at Stubb's on September 28.  I think we can expect pure awesomeness.

I can't remember the last time I actively listened to anything from the LA-based Film School, but they're back with a new album and the first single has me excited to get them back in the iPod/Pad/Phone rotation.  Expect Fission to hit store shelves on July 20 via FFO (Beggars Banquet and the band's relationship were victims of a sad economy).  Enjoy.

:Film School - Heart Full Of Pentagons:  "Fission is an album of clarity, energy and change."  Obviously, I haven't heard all of the new effort, but this song is so aligned with that press release snippet (a rare occurrence) I get the feeling it's probably exactly what we can expect from it.  Guess we'll see July 20.  Until then, feel free to kick back with one of the finer crafted songs of 2010.
